The Second Chance Band was formed in 1988 when the founding band members decided to start a part-time “fun” band to play special events and wedding dances. All of the members had been in numerous other bands, thus the origin of its current moniker. Many of them had taken an hiatus from music for various personal reasons (i.e. education, jobs, families) but all were anxious to reacquaint themselves with the fun factor that music had provided.
Over the years, a number of band members have come and gone but the primary goal of the band has remained the same, to have a good time playing music that others can enjoy.
The band has played many of the premier special events in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Benefit dances have repeatedly been played for the FM Symphony, ND Mental Health Association, FM Community Theatre, Plains Art Museum, Make-A-Wish Foundation, ARC, the Red River Zoo and many others. Some of the corporate events at which the band has performed include those sponsored by State Bank of Fargo, Moorhead Electric, Western Products, Super Value, Meritcare, Valley Laser, Food Services of America, and BlueCross BlueShield of North Dakota. We also have had the opportunity to play at many class reunions including those of Fargo North, Fargo South, and Moorhead High. Wedding dances have also remained a specialty and numerous marriages in the Fargo-Moorhead area have been celebrated with the Second Chance Band.
The current configuration of the band includes two guitarists, two keyboard players, a bass player, and a drummer. Four of the band members are vocalists. As our song list indicates, music of the 70’s and 80’s is our emphasis, with some variation thereof for good measure. We hope you consider us for your event.
